Gerber Steady Tripod Multi-Tool

Ah, the miracle of multi-functional tools: Leatherman, Victorinox, Wenger, SOG, PocketToolX, BlackHawk, Columbia River Knife & Tool (better known as CRKT), to name but a few. And within this multitude of manufacturers, only one seems to have taken anĀ interest in photographers. Gerber is its name; Steady is the name of its creation to be available in 2012. It has the distinction of having a set of articulated feet that allows for good traction on the ground and a l/4-inch-20 retractable screw on top.
How practical!
Some people will consider $65 a good investment for this. As always, there are a dozen other accessories included, but at the time of writing this column, the list has not yet been revealed. Personally, I’d love to see room to store a microfibre cloth, a container for lens cleaner, a compartment for an SD memory card, an SDXC card reader with a USB cable, a universal solar-powered battery charger, and, while I’m at it, a Gary Fong Puffer.
